Tonight on the program, a tribute to the electronic music of Detroit, the motor city, home of techno and a musical hotbed for many years, not only since the inception of the soulful machinations that put it on the map in the late 80’s, but reaching right back to Berry Gordy’s Motown legacy and beyond. This was a tribute in part to the inspiration that Detroit music has played in my dj sets over the last 13 years but also to the impact it has had on Against The Arctic over the last 5 years. Unless you’re living under a rock in melbourne, you’ll also know that this Friday the 10th December, Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Carl Craig and Kenny Larkin are playing at Brown Alley for the D25 party celebrating 25 years of Detroit electronic music.
